We went home. I got ready to take my finals and Isaac went to school. Five minutes after he left, the doctor called and said that she spoke with a high risk doctor in their practice. High risk doctor said the weight was a concern, I needed to come back for another ultrasound where they would check more specifically how the placenta was doing and the blood flow in the umbilical cord. After seeing that, we'd decide if I needed to get induced today. Really? Yeah, really. Oh yeah, and even if I wasn't induced today, I needed to stop working so the baby could gain some weight.
I got the latest possible ultrasound appointment because I didn't get to pack myself last time I went to the hospital, and though Isaac was AMAZING at getting me everything I needed, it's just nice to get time to do that myself. Isaac turned around, right as he was walking up to school, and came home to... be awesome for me.
The ultrasound showed the placental/cord pressure stuff to be a bit high, slightly high. They made me sit for 20 minutes and do what they call a stress test - I wear a belt that monitors the baby's heart rate and my contractions. The heart rate was great! No contractions. So here's the latest decision:
We're going back on Thursday, doing another ultrasound to check, well, everything. Depending how that goes they'll induce me by breaking my water, and going on with probably pitocin and who knows what other shenanigans. If all is well, the latest the high risk doctor wants to wait is when I'm 39 weeks, which is a week from today, Monday, Dec. 20. They actually gave us a choice and said we could come to induce on Thursday if we wanted to, but we said we'd like to wait, as long as she's healthy, to give my body more time to be ready for a natural birth. The fear is that they will break my water, give me pitocin and my body will still say NO. The only thing left to do then is have an emergency C-section. Of course, even if that happens, the most important thing, however the birth is that Sofía stays healthy, so we keep praying. Please do the same. We'll keep you posted!

P.S. Isaac has decided this is the best time to clean the basement. Really? Yeah, really. |
Well, as I read your comments, of course my response was to continue to pray for you, worry about you, thank God for the doctors that are monitoring you and the baby, but I am also so thankful for Isaac. Being so far away, one can't make you some tea, or hold your hand, or tell you to stop complaining, but he can. No, but seriously, I am so thankful he is by your side. Isaac, you are going to be a great dad and an even better husband. I love you and thank our lord for you.
