The Saga Gets Exciting

We left the house this morning and were more punctual to this event than to anything else in our lives ever. If you know us at all, you know this is true... we're hardly punctual.  I ate a hardy breakfast and was excited until I began to realized what I was walking toward. I got a bit nervous, quieter believe it or not, and sweet Isaac was the complete opposite.  He was hyper and excited and super ready to go.  "I'll get the car started!" he shouted at my mom and me before we had even grabbed our coats.  Oh yeah, my awesome mom is here!

After being admitted, they checked me and I was still 2.5cm dilated 50% effaced as I've been for a week and a half.  Last weekend and twice at the doctor's this week they told us that when we came to the hospital today, they would be "more aggressive" to get this baby out!  So we were a bit disappointed when they told me the first thing they'd do was put me on cervidil, which takes 12 hours.  After walking in thinking we'd see some action, got ready to get the show on the road and whatever other expression you can think of to say that WE WERE READY TO HAVE A BABY, we were given 12 hours to sit and wait.

I checked facebook, chatted online with my cousin in Argentina, watched half a movie, talked with my mom and Isaac, didn't eat. Oh yeah, I can't eat while on any of these meds. Anyway, I have to finish this post quickly because after these wretched 12 hours - although I have to mention that Phil showed up to save the day with a couple of hours of amazing entertainment of Settler's of Catan - they've decided to break my water!

They checked me around 9pm, I was 3cm dilated, and though the baby's head was still as high as before, they said when they poked it - crazy, right? - it didn't really bounce up. So they feel comfortable it is safe to break the water.  What now?

Well, I'm on pitocin, they'll break my water and hopefully I'll begin "active labor."  Ideally, I begin to have stronger and more frequent contractions and I begin to dilate consistently until a baby falls out! Just kidding, I know she won't just fall out, but it would be nice, wouldn't it?

Keep praying. Hopefully the next update is the time, weight and length of birth.
